.....Harbor!

Unfortunately, Bar Harbor was a bit too far north for us to make the roundtrip journey on our last day in Maine.  We thought maybe we could squeeze it in before leaving for Boston, but we were having too much fun in Portland.  So we'll have to go back and catch Bar Harbor on the next northern roadtrip.

We did swing through Kennebunkport as we jotted south towards Massachusetts.  The big "attraction" here is the area that made Kennebunkport famous - Walker Point.   It is located on a sharp tip along the ocean coast of Kennebunkport.  Here you can see the summer home of former President George HW Bush, the father of Dubya George W. Bush.  You can see Walker Point along various vista points along  Ocean Avenue, but the place is off limits to people and is guarded by secret service agents. Inside the compound is a large central house, built in the New England shingle style, has nine bedrooms, four sitting rooms, an office, a den, a library, a dining room, a kitchen, and various patios and decks. Next to the main house is a four-car garage, a pool, tennis court, dock, boathouse, and guesthouse. There are spacious lawns on either side of the house, on which there is a small sportsfield.
